- The figures for 2003 are based on the revised figures for 2003 presented on page 13 of the Irish Prison Service Annual Report 2004.
- The figure for sentenced committals used here is that quoted in the 2006 Irish Prison Service Annual Report as including individuals who were already in custody on remand/ awaiting trial at the beginning of the year and subsequently recommitted on conviction, as well as all committals directly under sentence. This is congruent with our method of calculation for all previous years.
