An Garda Síochána National Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy

An Garda Síochána has commenced the preparation of a National Crime Reduction and Prevention Strategy. The purpose of this strategy will be to:

• Reduce the current levels of crime,
• Reduce the Fear of Crime, and
• Prevent crime from actually occurring.

While An Garda Síochána has a primary role in this regard, crime is a concern for everyone and its reduction and prevention can only be achieved with the involvement and co-operation of the whole community. The Garda Commissioner therefore wishes to invite members of the business community, voluntary/ statutory organisations and the general public to make submissions for consideration in developing this new strategy.

Submissions/ observations in relation to this matter should be submitted in writing or by e-mail before close of business on 30th May 2008 to:
